FAQ
Common questions about reading RAR archives.
Can I fully extract RAR files?
No. RAR is proprietary, so this tool parses headers and lists contents only. Use WinRAR or 7-Zip for full extraction.
Which RAR versions are read?
Classic RAR (RAR1.x–RAR4) header magic is recognized; RAR5 is not supported by this parser.
Are encrypted RAR files supported?
No. Password-protected archives cannot be inspected without decryption.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Header parsing happens entirely in your browser.
Are sizes shown compressed or raw?
Uncompressed sizes are read from the header for each listed file.
What should I use for full extraction?
WinRAR, 7-Zip, or command-line tools that implement the RAR codec.
