FAQ
Common questions about BMI.
What is BMI?
Body Mass Index is your weight in kilograms divided by the square of your height in meters — a quick screening of weight category.
What do the categories mean?
Underweight (<18.5), Normal (18.5–24.9), Overweight (25–29.9) and Obese (30+).
Does BMI account for muscle?
No. BMI does not distinguish muscle from fat and may overestimate athletes, so treat it as a screening measure.
How is the healthy range found?
It back-calculates the weights that give a BMI of 18.5 and 24.9 for your height.
Can I use feet and inches?
Yes. The Imperial mode takes height in feet and inches with weight in pounds.
Is my data uploaded?
